Choosing the perfect Mexican beach getaway can be tough (Cancun, Cabo, or Puerto Vallarta…the struggle is real!). After much deliberation, I landed on Puerto Vallarta – and I’m SO glad I did. Get ready for the charm of Zona Romantica, thrilling adventures, and everything in between.
Where to Stay:
- Hotel Zone: Great for resorts and easy access to activities. We stayed here and loved it for the convenience.
- Zona Romantica: Cobblestone streets, vibrant nightlife, and the classic Mexican town feel. Budget-friendly options too!
Itinerary Highlights (With Descriptions):
- Day 1: Explore the Malecón and Zona Romantica: This iconic boardwalk is the heart of Puerto Vallarta. Wander, snap photos, and soak up the energy. Zona Romantica’s shops, cafes, and galleries will give you a taste of authentic Mexican charm.
- Day 2: Get Adventurous with Vallarta Adventures: I booked the Original Canopy Tour, Ziplining, Tequila, and Speed Boat Ride ($99, 5hrs) and it was a BLAST. Get your adrenaline pumping and see those jungle views! [Link to Vallarta Adventures or your review]
- Day 3: Rhythms of the Night: Don’t miss this incredible cultural experience! A magical boat ride, private island dinner, and a breathtaking show under the stars.
- Day 4: Zona Romantica Delights: Relax with a stroll, savor the amazing food scene, and find some unique souvenirs.
- Day 5: Recharge and Reflect: Enjoy a leisurely last day at the beach or pool. But be warned – those timeshare salespeople can be sneaky!
Arriving Like a Pro:
- Say Cheese: While I got caught up in the moment, I wish I took more pictures to capture all those “wish you were here!” moments. Don’t make my mistake!
Travel Tips:
- Taxis: Cheap and plentiful, a great way to get from the Hotel Zone to Zona Romantica.
- Currency: The Mexican Peso is your friend. Have some cash handy for those little purchases.

We should have taken more pictures — below are some of my favorite captures.
Why I’ll Be Back:
Puerto Vallarta was just the right mix of laid-back vibes and exciting experiences. I already miss the delicious food, the stunning scenery, and the warmth of the Mexican people. ¡Hasta Luego, Puerto Vallarta!
